Ricardo Takeshita Nishimura

Ricardo Takeshita Nishimura is an independent writer of Peruvian origin and Japanese ancestry, and the founder and editor of Discover Japan Sites, the central platform of a digital ecosystem dedicated to researching and introducing Japan to the world. His decades of residence in Japan have enabled him to develop a perspective that connects Japan with the West, both through the country's contemporary realities and the experiences of Nikkei communities. His independent writing also includes essays on Nikkei identity, historical memory, cultural belonging, and the transmission of Japanese heritage across generations, exploring the challenges of preserving that identity across different societies and cultural environments. Through Discover Japan Sites, he publishes travel guides and articles on Japanese culture, industry, products, and services, alongside independent analyses of international competition, trade imbalances, market transparency, and consumer protection. He is the author of KYOTEN, a work that establishes the foundations of his Intelligent Market Asymmetry doctrine, developed by integrating principles from Japanese philosophies and methods such as monozukuri, omotenashi, shokunin, and kaizen. KYOTEN's static dimension is established in his books, while its dynamic dimension is developed through Discover Japan Sites, where its principles are applied and further developed in response to real-world market conditions. He also leads the Hidden Value Initiative, which seeks to identify and bring international visibility to Japan's lesser-known strengths, particularly those of small and medium-sized enterprises, regional producers, specialized expertise, and industrial and cultural capabilities. His KYOTEN books are available in English and Spanish. The Spanish edition is adapted to the economic, commercial, and cultural context of Latin America rather than being a literal translation of the English edition. The ecosystem is complemented by two communities on Skool: Japan Market Radar, a free community where he shares market signals and observations about opportunities in Japan; and DJS Premium, the KYOTEN school, dedicated to learning and applying the doctrine in practice.
